Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a way to achieve a million dollar smile, without having to empty the bank account. Usually, the actual procedure to apply the veneers can be accomplished in a lunch hour. Not only does it make teeth look brighter and more even, the porcelain also adds a layer of protection against stains and cavities.

Aesthetic Purposes

Porcelain veneers are no substitute for good dental hygiene or other major dental problems. But, aesthetically, our dentist in Scottsdale offers porcelain dental veneers that will give anyone that enviable smile we see in stars and other public figures. Veneers will enhance a smile and improve self-esteem by correcting flaws that keep a person from displaying their pearly whites. Veneers can cover up:

Veneers are applied to the front of all the teeth that are normally exposed when a person smiles or talks. It is not a cap that covers the entire tooth; but, veneers have been credited with drastically improving a patient’s appearance. Basically, our porcelain dental veneers give our Scottsdale patients give the individual the confidence to smile and display an equally dazzling personality.

Durability of Porcelain Veneers

While veneers can be made from other materials, porcelain is the preferred substance, because it is more durable. Porcelain actually adheres to the natural tooth, essentially becoming part of the tooth. This makes it perfect for our Scottsdale patients who need teeth repair or restoration. If taken care of properly, veneers should last about 15 years. In some cases, patients have not had veneers replaced until 20-30 years later.

Although coffee, tea and juices will no longer stain the teeth covered by porcelain veneers, they are not indestructible. If they are to last, it’s important not to chew ice, use teeth to pry something open, or grind teeth at night. For the latter problem, check with the dentist about solutions to protect a smile, so your pearly whites will give a sparkling smile for years to come.

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.

As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

What does getting porcelain veneers involve?

Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process, with little or no anesthesia required during the procedure.  The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer.  A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and the dentist.

On the second visit the teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond.  Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.

You will receive care instructions for veneers.  Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers. To learn more about porcelain dental veneers, call our Scottsdale dental office today!
